Rail trans­port

Rail transport is an essential backbone of public transport in Germany. The train connects municipalities and cities by local and long-distance rail traffic network. Metro, light rail and tram can achieve very high passenger transport capacities inside of municipalities. Rail transport is commonly considered as a very safe transport system. At locations where rail vehicles meet other road users, e.g. at level crossings or on roads with street cars, the collisions always lead to serious accidents.
