Traffic signs on highways in „selective yellow“

Construction sites on motorways are comparatively safe. However, accidents occur more frequently at the beginning of construction sites, at slight bends (by reducing the number of lanes) and temporary accesses or exits of slip roads within construction sites and at the end of construction sites.

In a field test it has been investigated whether more conspicuous traffic signs in “selective yellow” in these areas can contribute to improve road safety. Particularly at the beginning of construction sites it has been shown that there is a significant reduction in speed levels.

Therefore, German Insurers Accident Research recommends the use of “selective yellow” signs at the beginning of construction sites and their controlled use in critical areas within construction sites.
