Vehicle Seats

Rear-end collisions between vehicles are one of the most common accident constellations. In a large proportion of these collisions, the occupants of the vehicle hit from behind suffer minor injuries to the neck and cervical spine. The vehicle seat has a considerable role to play in the prevention of such cervical spine injuries. A working group of international insurance companies and research centers was set up in the year 2000 in order to focus on this issue. This group developed a method of testing vehicle seats under rear-end collision conditions that can indicate the risk of whiplash injuries occurring in real accidents.
