Child safety

The number of fatally injured children in cars has been dropped significantly during the last decade. Nevertheless, most children in traffic were fatally injured as car occupants, not as a bicyclist and not as a pedestrian. Therefore, child safety in cars has a high priority in the research work of the German Insurers Accident Research since decades. It is our goal to identify safety shortcomings and to minimise or avoid them. That happens by monitoring the markets, the behavior of parents securing their children in the car and the real accidents scene. The findings and deduced measures can be used to optimise Child Restraint Systems (CRS) and to educate users.
